Case Study: UI Design for Egg Standards Australia Farmer Portal

Client Overview

ESA is a voluntary quality assurance program, replacing the previous egg industry program Egg Corp Assured (ECA). It has been developed through an extensive consultation process with industry and represents a robust, credible and workable QA standard that meets the needs of regulators and retailers.

 

Project Objective

To design a user-friendly, intuitive, and efficient user interface (UI) for the ESA Farmer Portal, facilitating seamless quality assurance processes for egg producers across Australia.

Design Process

User Flows

  • Visualise the sequential steps and decision points within each user flow to optimize navigation and usability.
  • Created detailed flowcharts in Miro, illustrating step-by-step processes from initial user registration to ongoing compliance management. Incorporated feedback from stakeholders to refine flow diagrams, ensuring alignment with ESA’s operational objectives and user expectations.

 

Wireframing and Prototyping

    • Created wireframes to map out the layout and structure of the interface.
    • Developed interactive prototypes to demonstrate key functionalities and gather user feedback.

The design emphasises usability and clarity, ensuring that producers can easily navigate through the portal to fulfil their compliance requirements.

    We prioritised responsiveness and accessibility across all devices, including desktops, tablets, and smartphones. This approach ensures that producers can access the portal seamlessly from any device, enabling them to manage their compliance tasks efficiently whether they are in the office, on the farm, or the go.

    By maintaining a cohesive and intuitive design, the ESA Farmer Portal enhances user experience and engagement, supporting ESA’s goal of promoting consistent quality assurance standards across the egg industry.

Outcome

The UI design for the ESA Farmer Portal successfully streamlined compliance processes for egg producers. It provided an accessible platform that facilitated adherence to ESA standards, enhanced educational resources, and improved communication channels with ESA administrators.
